“Where STRENGTH, well-being, and looks come together.”

Strength: The ability to do every day tasks exceptionally well. The strength aspect of H&V is the core of the program. It refers not only to muscle strength but to the strength of being able to accomplish anything. From running 10 miles to hitting a home run in your company softball game.

Bringing LA style and fitness to Waterbury, CT!!

I was born and raised in the Waterbury, Ct area, and this is where I started as a personal trainer. It really seems like ages ago since I trained my first client at the YMCA.

Since then I’ve trained in a variety of locations in Florida, San Diego, and most recently Los Angeles. My clients have ranged from stay at home moms and the elderly to celebrities and professional athletes. I’ve had crummy jobs in crummy gyms with no authority. I’ve also had great jobs, in world class facilities, where I only answered to myself.

I’ve learned a ton from these experiences and I’ve brought them all home to the Waterbury area to share with you. I’m bringing my vision of Health and Vanity Personal Training to the forefront to give Waterbury a fitness program its never seen before. This is something your going to want to be a part of. Stay tuned….June is going to be a big month.

Solana Beach Gym and Personal Trainer Directory

Putting together a directory of the favorite gyms and personal trainers in Solana Beach.  I’m gonna be networking with studio owners, gyms, personal trainers, nutritionists, and anyone that has to do with fitness and health in Solana Beach.  I could use everyones help with this as well.

There will be more directory’s coming for Encinitas, Cardiff, Carlsbad, Del Mar, and Rancho Santa Fe in the future.

Relax and Enjoy Encinitas CA

Many of us have extremely busy lives and don’t take the time to enjoy our beautiful surroundings.  Encinitas, Solana Beach, Carlsbad, and the rest of North County have some especially scenic areas to relax and enjoy ourselves.

Fitness and health isn’t limited to running and lifting weights at the gym.  There is also a point here you need to have time to just be yourself and improve your mental health.

A great place to do this is at the Self Realization Fellowship in Encinitas.   I’m not suggesting that you go and join the fellowship, but you can walk around during their free hours and enjoy the surroundings.  The fellowship is located right on the cliffs of the Pacific Ocean heading north from Swami’s Beach.  There are gardens, fish, and most importantly gorgeous views that overlook the ocean.  You can sit and relax on the benches to let your mind relax and refresh.  This location is really a prime choice for those that live in Encinitas, Cardiff, Carlsbad, and Solana Beach.

Swami’s in Encinitas… Another Great Place for a Workout

Are you looking for a motivational place to train?  Maybe just get out of the boring gym for a couple weeks?  Encinitas and North County offer many beaches and parks to do this, but Swami’s is definitely a favorite in the area.  Have a friend or personal trainer meet you there, and you could get in a great run and stair workout.  Or bring some resistance bands and a mat to get in a light strength workout.  Whatever your fitness goals this is one of the best locations for a scenic workout.

“Swami’s Beach in Encinitas is a popular surfing beach with fantastic waves located below Seacliff Roadside Park, a region that includes a parking lot, public restrooms, set of scenic, wooden steps perched on a hill high above the Pacific Ocean and sand beach that are part of Swami’s. Named for the Self-Realization Fellowship Retreat, Gardens and Hermitage located a few hundred yards north on Highway 101, this beach is a local favorite for surfing.  On most mornings and evenings, you can stand on the steps and watch the surfers walk by in a steady stream. Young surfers who mount their bicycles and old surfers who hop into their cars and drive appear to own the finest boards and body suits. They take their surfing seriously and Swami’s holds a reputation for providing some of the best waves on the San Diego coastline.

For those who want to enjoy a picnic or walk on the beach, parking is usually limited, especially in the summer months and on weekends. There are a few picnic tables, however, and pay phones. Alcohol is not permitted, dogs are forbidden and no glass containers may be used at Swami’s Beach.

Beaches with Public Access
Beach Parking: 5am – 10pm
Beach Use: 4am – 2am
No dogs, alcohol, or glass allowed
Lifeguard Towers Open: 10am – 6pm during the Summer Season (late June to Labor Day)

Profile of Encinitas, CA Parks….. #1 Cottonwood Creek Park

Here’s the first in a series of reviews of the local Encinitas parks.  Let’s start with one I’m overly familiar with as I hold boot camps and hold personal training sessions at this great location.

The park is Cottonwood Creek Park and its located on 95 North Vulcan right on the corner of Encinitas Blvd.

Cottonwood has a good sized grass field for picnics or anybody thats looking to get a good outdoor workout in.  IE: Boot camps, personal training.

There is also a playground for the kids that can also come in hand for those being trained or working on their fitness level.  Add in basketball and tennis courts and there is more then enough to keep you busy.

Cottonwood also includes a small gazebo in case of inclement weather and some short trails with stops for bird watching.

I highly recommend this park for workouts, parents, and kids.  There is ample opportunity for those looking to work hard or just simply have a picnic and relax.

Where is Encinitas CA??

Just figured I’d let everyone know a little bit about the beautiful town that I live and work in.  Fitness and health is a way of life here as most people exercise on a regular basis.  Take a drive along the coast and you will see people running, biking, and surfing.  There are also plenty of big gym chains and small fitness studios for those looking for a weight session. The parks and rec department also does a good job of maintaining the numerous areas for boot camps like mine.  Here is the history of Encinitas…..

Encinitas is located in North San Diego County, the southernmost county in the Western United States. With six miles of rugged coastline and 21.5 square miles of land, Encinitas enjoys ocean views and a great surfing culture from San Elijo Lagoon on the southern terminus to Batiquitos Lagoon to the north. Encinitas got its name from Encina Canada, Spanish for “hills of live oaks,” which describes what Gaspar de Portola saw in 1769 when he led an expedition through the region. The Spanish Governor of Baja California hoped to create a stronghold in California and did so until Mexico laid claim on the land in the 1800s. That reign was short lived and California became a state of the United States in 1850.

From an 1800’s gold rush in nearby Julian to the arrival of celebrities such as Charlie Chaplin in the early 1900’s, at least two establishments offer glimpses into the rich Encinitas past. Visit the San Dieguito Historical Museum to learn about Indian tribes that once dominated the region. Or sit in the historic La Paloma Theatre (possibly the first ‘talking’ theatre in the rural United States when it opened its doors in 1928) to watch a current movie.

Beaches, flowers, peace and love welcome you to Encinitas. IBM, teeing off for golf and a Starbucks latte in a plastic cup might greet you, as well. Encinitas is a place where diversity rules and is celebrated daily. When the communities of Leucadia, Cardiff-by-the-Sea, Olivenhain and old and new Encinitas incorporated together as the City of Encinitas in 1986, their union on paper did not mean that each would give up its identity and character.
